Ive been lucky over the years to have had some great training partners. These days, I seem to like training by myself a little more, but when I was first starting out, I always had partners. One of the best I ever had was Jimmy Anderson. Jimmy and I coached together at Garner-Webb back in the NAIA glory days. We were GA's together. Well, we were GA's but the head coach had us working 89 hours a week so we never went to class..Anyway, we had some great workouts. We used to hang a pic of Fred Hatfield over the squat rack when we squatted. We pushed eah other and we loved it in that freaking hole- in -the -wall weight room. But you know what I loved and missed the most about those workouts? The biscuits and gravy. After every workout, Jimmy and I would drive to Hardees and eat biscuits and Gravy and talk about the workout and just laugh and cut up. Maybe that's what I miss the most about training partners- the BS'ing and relaxing with a great friend. And that's part of the joy of training- the relationships that come with it. Jimmy and I had a great relationship, cemented with getting strong and biscuits and gravy.
