1983

Thinking of Ocean City

1983

Memorial Day Weekend

I am in high school

With Rick, Carlo, Luigi

Saturday morning

Wake up early, alone

A run on Coastal Highway

Sneak into the gym at the Holiday Inn

The biker guy in there tells me that he trains with the Steelers

He bounces 315 violently off of his chest while bench pressing

I squat 275 for as many as I can for multiple sets and throw up in the shower

Trying to be like Platz or Mentzer

Raw eggs for post workout nutrition

Off to the beach on 9th street

Tackle football in the water

Rick takes a beating

Sunburned, shower, beers on the balcony

All you can eat crabs, hush puppies and corn

Maryland pride, Maryland down deep

Off to the Boardwalk

Laughing, friends, Thrasher's Fries, Ponzetti's Pizza

Back on the balcony to finish the day

All About Being a Lifer

What's a Lifer? Someone who isn't in to something for just a day, a month, a year...it's for life. Whether its training or your family or your job...it doesn't matter. You work at it, you build on it, you see the big picture . You don't miss workouts because it means something to you. You are like a Shakespearean actor- no matter what is going on in your life, you block it out when it's time to train. You walk into the weight room and all else disappears. Worry about it later.
