Diet and Commitment

Folks should stop fooling themselves about what it takes to lose weight. Most of it is diet, not exercise. You can run and ride a bike all that you want, but if you are still eating a lot, you will not lose weight. And yes, there are a multitude of diets out there, but ALL off them work. Reducing calories, reducing carbs. All of them emphasize more veggies and fruits and less breads and starches. Some work faster than others. The best way to lose is to eat small portions of what you want and learn to be slightly hungry. Too simple, isn't it? And the hunger part? Get used to it. Think about it this way, there are people all over the world who would kill for what we as Americans throw away everyday. Give me a break- you HAVE to have that doughnut? No, you don't. You WANT to have it because you don't care that much about your diet. And this is ok, but be honest about the whole damn thing. Its ok to be weak, but don't make excuses about it. State it, see it and move on. Now if you make the commitment, nothing will stop you. Remember something that you HAD to have in your life, that you couldn't do without no matter what? You sacrificed your ass off to get it- whether it was a date with that beautiful girl/guy or a new car. Once you decided that you wanted it, nothing would stop you. Its the same with diet. Its all commitment and sacrifice. Once you commit, it becomes almost effortless because its part of you then. Its what you expect from yourself. Don't fool around with it. Do it or don't do it, and then when you decide to DO, never look back.

All About Being a Lifer

What's a Lifer? Someone who isn't in to something for just a day, a month, a year...it's for life. Whether its training or your family or your job...it doesn't matter. You work at it, you build on it, you see the big picture . You don't miss workouts because it means something to you. You are like a Shakespearean actor- no matter what is going on in your life, you block it out when it's time to train. You walk into the weight room and all else disappears. Worry about it later.
